Mykayla is a Research Coordinator currently working with Dr. A.M. Barrett at the Atlanta VA CVNR. She attended Georgia Highlands College and Georgia State University (GSU) for her undergraduate studies. Mykayla received a B.S. in Psychology from GSU in 2019, after which, she received her M.S. in Neuroscience also from GSU in 2022. Previously, Mykayla worked as a research assistant for the GSU Reading Lab under the supervision of Dr. Robin Morris, and Dr. Nikki Arrington at the GSU/GaTech Center for Advanced Brain Imaging. Her previous research has focused on neurodevelopmental disorders, specifically developmental dyslexia, and the use of neuromodulation as a form of treatment for reading dysfunction. Mykayla has worked on various studies that investigate reading dysfunction, ADHD, aphasia, and on a joint project with MIT investigating educational social robotics for early reading intervention. As a graduate student, Mykayla focused on neuroimaging data collection and processing, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and completed a master’s project focused on Volumetric Differences of Subcortical Structures in Developmental Dyslexia Comorbid ADHD.

Mykayla research interest are : neuromodulation, acquired brain injury, neurorehabilitation, neuroimaging.
